Is Retail Therapy a Girl Thing?

6:40 pm My Notebook

Shopping is an individual girl’s thing. We all have our different agendas, styles, tastes and priorities. Some of us buy with cash while some others prefer to buy now pay later. Now the dangers of carrying cash around are great, and it is advisable to choose which type of credit card to apply for.

Yes, I just recently learned that there is more than one type. The differences of these credit cards  depend on the lifestyle of the individual. In which case, a lot of things have to be considered:

1. self control - does she splurge a lot? Does she see her card as a extension of her Christmas bonus? Will she think about her limit before she swipes?

2. paying capacity - how’s income lately? Does her paycheck cover her expenses and does she care? And…

3. Retail Therapy Behavior -  Buy once but significantly, or buy small things frequently? Buy a lot now then a lot more later? Buy only when pressured or depressed?

The variables differ from person to person, and as such, people who do not discriminate which card to apply for end up getting confused later on. So, girl friend, open your eyes to the different nuances of retail therapy.
